Happy New Year! Here are my top 5 picks for a green 2012.
- Stop Buying Plastic Bottles: BPA’s leach into the bottle, not to mention they take up about a million and a half tons of space in our landfills each year.
- Embrace Reusing: It’s time to start shopping at consignment stores, thrift shops and garage sales. Get past the idea that it’s gross to buy pre-owned items.
- Spend More Time Outside: We Americans are addicted to TV, Video games and the Internet. It’s time to unplug and reconnect with nature.
- Master Recycling: In all it’s forms – it’s a new year. Time to get rid of material baggage. Donate those unwanted clothes, compost food scraps and recycle cans, bottles and paper.
- Reusable Bags: I know you already know, but I can’t say it enough. Use reusable bags. Seattle has voted in a plastic bag ban as have some other communities around the greater Seattle region. Set an example and use bags loud and proud!
